First consultation:

arbolito

This is a one-off meeting to see if Body Psychotherapy would suit your needs and if it is what you are looking for. It is also a moment for us to meet for the first time and decide if working together is something that would benefit you.

During the first consultation we will also talk about cancellations, bookings, contract, code of ethics and confidentiality.

First session

elemento02
  • During the first session, we will talk about you and I will ask a few questions so that I can get to know you better. This will allow me to find the best way for us to work together, and I will openly share with you the principles of my therapeutic plan. This plan can then be adjusted as we work through different sessions.
  • We will usually agree to an initial period of 6 weekly sessions and we will evaluate your process together at the end of that period.

A typical Body Psychotherapy session

elemento02

A session will last for 60 minutes and we will typically meet weekly, on the same day, at the same time. During a session, we will talk through your difficulties and your enjoyments. Alongside this, we will explore the ways that your body reacts to what you share.

I might propose a technique to deepen this exploration, or I might keep the course of the conversation adjusting its flow with gentle questions or body awareness.

In this way, I aim to discover ways to support resolution of conflict and help you to enjoy a fuller life.

What happens in a session?

Biodynamic massage

Through these techniques, we find ways to allow you to discover what perhaps cannot be said very easily.

What is Biodynamic massage?

Biodynamic massage is a psychotherapeutic technique that aims to support the nervous system to return to its natural balance. It also offers another way to address what sometimes cannot be explained with words, but that is felt and stored in the body. This touch technique can help with stress related symptoms and conditions where there is chronic pain or fatigue, such as lupus, APS, fibromyalgia, arthritis, ME, etc.

This massage can be done fully clothed and doesn’t involve any oil or essences. I am a full member of the Association for Biodynamic Massage Therapists.

Online Sessions camera

During the Covid-19 pandemic, my working practice has fully incorporated online therapy, maintaining the core of the body psychotherapy approach, even though we are not in the same room. It is very likely that the current situation is presenting personal challenges that in the past you were not aware of.

If you feel you might benefit from the support that online therapy could give, please do get in touch with me.
