Body psychotherapy is a specialised approach in psychotherapy, in which the body-mind connection is seen as central to the person’s sense of self.

Our body expresses the map of our personal biography, not just at an emotional level, but also at a biological level. Body psychotherapy follows this map, integrating emotions, thoughts and the sensorial experience. With this information we picture a landscape of the person’s situation that can helps us to find resolutions to their conflict and distress.

Body psychotherapy draws from different branches of psychology and science to restore balance in our body, mind and hearts.

How does Body Psychotherapy work?

Any adverse experience will manifest itself both physically and emotionally.
Body Psychotherapy works by paying attention to the relationships between the mind, feelings and bodily reactions.

Bodily reactions are understood as markers of the Autonomic Nervous System. The ANS works in our body as the storyteller of how we lived past experiences and regulates the way we interact with the world today. Sometimes, certain circumstances in our present life, remind us of the past and make us react in exactly the the same way as we did years ago.

By listening to the story that the body and mind tell us, working collaboratively and in the present moment, I aim to support my clients to have a fuller enjoyment of life.
